Double Dragon

Asian cuisine
This Asian cuisine is on the corner of Spadina and Richmond. It is clean and crisp, with freshly made food, variety of daily specials and just the right prices. The Majority of lunch special dishes are between $8-10 dollars with taxes included.
The dining area is composed of 4-5 wide tables that comfortably sits 8. The portions are generous, and served on big plates. The refreshing healthy combination that I picked was curry chicken - carrot, potato, lemongrass, coconut, bay leaf in yellow curry, with mixed veggies and steamed rice.
The place is ideal if you are coming with 4 or more because of the seating arrangements.
Just to add one final note even with a lineup from the entrance, it takes only few minutes to get your meal.

Peter Street Deli

Full tummy and a full wallet
This very old, family owned establishment is not a place that you can spot by flashy looks but it is definitely going to provide enough material for gastronomic memories of filling meals.
My choice was the Cantonese noodles. They sat on a bed of crispy noodles topped with chicken and mixed vegetables. Mmmm it was yummy. I dare you to finish the whole portion. The menu is dominated with Chinese specialties and you can have a meal with tip and taxes for under $10. The open kitchen cooking, in the center of the restaurant, can "stay with you" in a way, but it didn’t bother me. I almost forgot; there is an additional touch that nicely compliments the food prepared in front of you. No matter if you are there first, second or twenty second time, you will feel like a local. I’m not sure how they are doing it but i

Zupa's

Good old restaurant, good old service
My first thought was, "it looks like time stopped at this place years ago". My second thought came after I took my first bite, "it stopped at the perfect time!" The daily special was home made chili, with salad and toast. I was enjoying ever spoon of chili, every fork of green salad and every crispy bite of rye toast. Almost immediately my mind start whirling around one thought. How I can know when chili is featured again as a daily special so I can bring my friends. The sheppards pie was a similar experience.
The meals are more than affordable. You can have a full tummy and still have a full pocket - many items are below $10 with tip and taxes.
I will definitely come back for more daily specials... and after that, there is a lot to explore from the regular menu :)

Grand Ichiban Sushi

Taste of Japan
Long lounge with retro style furniture was warm and inviting. In some moments it reminded me on Logan`s run scenery, but that is just me. Staff was dress traditionally and menus were fresh and crispy. Our target was again meal around $15 and unmistakable guidance of our Chef at large brought as to desired outcome. We decided to go with lunch specials because that was perfect way to sample more than one dish and to still arrive at our projected sweet spot.
Green tea complimented all meals that we selected at the table. My pick was Salmon Teriyaki -Grilled salmon with mixed vegetables served in a bento box with house salad, steamed rice, and miso soup. Portion was just right and if you are healthy eating conscious this is real refresher with all essential nutrients served is moderate portions.
We would definitely come again when we need break of western oriented food and when we would like to spend some time in conversation around the meal in airy and positively charged atmosphere. I could imagine how this setting works in the late afternoon with dimmed lights… but let’s stay focused on lunch. For more details you can visit
